Steve Tarani Two Day Training (Day Two) - Advanced Edged Weapons and Advanced Improvised Weapons Training

STEVE TARANI’S - ADVANCED EDGED WEAPONS TRAINING

November 7th, 2021 0900hrs - 1200hrs

Prerequisite: None

Course Content: Employing the fundamentals of edged weapons defense with layered complexities this is not a beginning level course. Training drills are from multiple systems: Inosanto, Bahala Na, LAMECO, Mande Muda and practical application in the field of Protective Services. The course is not “sport” oriented – you will not be learning how to “knife fight” but instead utilize your environment and skills to move yourself and those with you off the “X” and to a position of advantage utilizing upper-level edged weapons (fixed, folding, straight edge and curved edged) skills and combative training concepts. Flow drills, stop-flow drills and scenario-based tactical problem solving are part of this program of instruction.

What to Bring: If you have your own inert training knife, but it cannot have a point or a sharp edge – plastic or aluminum OK – no steel please. Otherwise one will be provided for you.

STEVE TARANI’S - ADVANCED IMPROVISED WEAPONS TRAINING

November 7th, 2021 13000hrs - 1600hrs

Prerequisite: None

Course Content: Employing the fundamentals of improvised weapons handling with layered complexities the course builds on the prior day course edged weapons skills and moves into both impact and flexible weapons. Focusing squarely on the protective services aspects of moving off the “X” the course does not advise and does not cover any “stay and play” technique. You’ve got 2 moves in 2 seconds to solve the tactical problem with anything and everything in your environment including your environment.

What to Bring: If you have your own training knives, impact weapons and flexible weapons. Otherwise they will be provided for you.

There will be a one hour lunch break each day. Lunch is not provided.

Women's Self-Defense Class

The Women’s Basic Self-Defense Class is an interactive workshop which offers a tremendous wealth of knowledge and empowerment to anyone who is concerned about their protection and that of their loved ones from real-world threats at home, school, work, or while travelling and who wants to know what to do about it. You will also be introduced to the very easy-to-learn (and remember!) steps in how to defend against any physical assault without the need for a weapon.

Course Length: 2.5-3 hours
- Prerequisites: None
- Weapons: None
- Prior Training: None
- Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age or accompanied by Legal Guardian
- Cost: $50

What to expect

Interactive workshop, lecture, demonstration, practical familiarization exercises, information-based training and some physical activity – role playing only.

What can you do to protect your daughter going off to college and living away from home for the first time?  You don’t expect your home to be invaded when you’re relaxing in front of your TV.  You don’t expect your kids to be bullied, abducted, or even worse when you send them off to school.  You don’t expect to be carjacked or physically assaulted when walking to or from your vehicle.  You don’t expect to be shot at while running errands at work, at school, or even sitting -in a movie theater. However, bad things happen to good people every day.  Instead of being blindsided and forced to react to these incidents, what if you could see them coming and even prevent them from happening?

Using your common sense and good habits, we will discuss how to:

- Lower your threat profile, making you significantly less vulnerable
- Identify and disrupt pre-attack behaviors before they convert to an attack
- Avoid, mitigate, and even defend against a physical assault using protective concepts
- Use your environment as an extension of your awareness to manage any threat
- Leverage the one denominator common to all human predators against them

Key Topics Covered

- Weapons Discussion – We will discuss the various weapon platforms, their uses, effectiveness and required training necessary to safely carry and use as an effective lifesaving tool.

- Threat Management – Using “threat identification” skills, situational awareness, and professional observation skills, learn how to avoid, mitigate and if necessary defend against a real-world threat.

- Stop the Bad Guy(s) – For any predator to attack you there are three things that MUST go exactly right for him/ them to be successful. Disrupting even JUST ONE of them foils his plans and causes him to go look elsewhere for a victim. Learn exactly what these critical items are, what to look for and how they work.

- Hands On – OK this all sounds great, but what if there’s just no way to avoid or even mitigate a threat even by taking full opportunity of the 90% Advantage against a threat progression. What can I do if it DOES somehow end up progressing into a physical attack? Learn what it takes to take and keep control if you find yourself confronting a physical threat.

What to Bring

Comfortable attire – wear what you normally wear. Notebooks (or notepads) are very welcome.

This is training is fun and easy to learn! You walk away with a tremendous amount of EXTREMELY valuable and useful information with very minimal physical effort.

Steve Tarani's Advanced Edged Weapons / Karambit

October 17th & 18th 0900hrs - 1600hrs each day

Primary focus of the training will be on the Karambit “the curved blade” – how it is used, its advantages over a straight edge and what makes the curved blade such a unique defensive tool employed at conversational ranges.

We will be discussing: What is the best knife for me to carry? Where is the best place to carry a folding or fixed blade? How can I rapidly access and utilize my knife if needed under extreme duress? What if I don’t have a gun or a knife – with nothing in my hands – how can I defend myself from one or more assailants attacking me with edged weapons?

Take advantage of this extremely rare opportunity to learn from a real-world protective agent from deep within the US Defense Intelligence community. Ex-CIA Protective Programs defensive tactics subject matter expert and foremost edged-weapons educator Steve Tarani steps outside “the Agency” to provide you with this vetted, unarmed, easy-to-follow training. Gain the opportunity to develop your instinctive reflexes to handle an overwhelming physical threat.

No prior training or prerequisites necessary. This is NOT martial arts. This is NOT “knife fighting.” This is a professional Protective Services approach to doing what it takes to protect yourself and those with you.

Course Content: Access (where and how to carry) and rapid deployment of a fixed, folding or improvised blade at Contact Range, Do’s and Don’ts of utilizing a blade in an actual threat engagement, protecting your exposure of lethal target areas, real-world scenarios (single/ multiple threats 360 approach), managing the fateful Injury/ Distance liability gap, unarmed defense and disarming, hostage Escape Scenarios, what are and how to protect the seven lethal strikes zones vulnerable to an edged weapon attack, unarmed defense versus a machete, mastering force vectors, protective blade handling skills (“indexing”, etc.), and handling multiple assailants.

What to Bring: Your Karambit or a folding knife and/ or fixed blade. Do not bring a training knife as these will be provided for you. Also, wear what you would normally wear the majority of the time.

This is fun and easy to learn! You walk away with a tremendous amount of EXTREMELY valuable and useful information with minimal physical effort.

All training materials provided. Notebooks (or notepads) are welcome.
